Exploring Western Elegance at Hillside Farms Tenino
Styled shoots are one of my favorite ways to explore design in a more creative, unrestricted way, and this western wedding concept at Hillside Farms Tenino was exactly that. With Reagan and Charles as our models, we set out to create a look that felt rooted in western influence while still maintaining a sense of refinement. The result was a western elegance wedding aesthetic that felt elevated and slightly unexpected for the Pacific Northwest.

A Different Side of Hillside Farms Tenino
Hillside Farms Tenino is often associated with soft, romantic designs, but this shoot proved just how versatile the space can be. We (PNW Creative, Curated Moments Events, Coalescence Event Services, and Topaz & Pearl Weddings and Events) used the same core elements—the arbor, the open landscape, the lavender fields—but interpreted them through a completely different lens. Instead of light and airy, this design leaned rich, textured, and dramatic.
Elevated Western Tablescape Design
The sweetheart table design, with elements provided by American Party Place, set a formal tone, layering Heritage bone china with glass charger plates trimmed in gold. Emerald velvet napkins added depth and contrast, paired with a gold shimmer runner that brought warmth to the overall design. Melodia cut-glass wine glasses and tumblers added a refined, vintage-inspired touch that elevated the entire look beyond traditional western styling.

Dramatic Florals with Texture and Depth
Florals by Specialty Floral Designs anchored the design with rich, layered textures. The palette included quicksand roses, terracotta chrysanthemums, dried burgundy Italian ruscus, pampas grass, and chocolate agonis. A dramatic free-standing arrangement nestled at the foot of the antique wooden sweetheart table was accented by amber bud vases on the tabletop.
The bride’s bouquet blended deep reds, oranges, and browns with softer blush and ivory tones, striking a balance between bold and romantic. The groom’s pocket square-style boutonniere was a standout detail that tied everything together seamlessly.

Modern Western Fashion Moments
Reagan’s look from Weddings With Joy embraced a modern take on western bridal style. She incorporated both a traditional veil and a chic neck scarf at different points throughout the shoot, highlighting how one thoughtful accessory swap can create two distinct bridal looks. Her beaded, embroidered cowboy boots added personality and complemented the florals perfectly.

Her beauty look complemented everything seamlessly. Her hair, styled by Casa Blanca Salon, was fashioned in an elegant, braided updo that felt polished but not overly structured; Makeup by Nikki, in turn, created a soft and natural makeup look with neutral tones that enhanced her features without competing with the rest of the design.

Charles complemented her perfectly in a striking hunter green suit, also provided by Weddings With Joy. We finished his look with a black cowboy hat that grounded the look in western influence while still feeling refined.

Details with Impact
The cake from Wanderlust Cupcake Co. featured a minimalist black and white design—simple, modern, and a perfect contrast to the richness of the surrounding elements (and yes, it was just as good as it looked). Decorated with just a few blooms to echo the dramatic floral arrangements, it fit the scene seamlessly. Elevated tabletop details like matte black taper holders, amber bud vases, and a cut-glass whiskey decanter tied the setting together, while paper goods from Olympic Place—including letterpress invitations and a horseshoe-shaped RSVP card—added a refined finishing touch that tied beautifully into the overall western-inspired theme.

Golden Hour at Hillside Farms Tenino
We timed portraits to capture golden hour, which brought a warm, cinematic quality to the entire shoot. Reagan and Charles posed in front of the greenery-covered arbor, in the lavender fields, on the staircase, and on the barn balcony. Each location offers a different perspective on what a western wedding at Hillside Farms Tenino can look like. The photography team—Hazel and Fern Photography, Emma Wargo Photo, Marie Nelson Photography, and Breanna Deuel Photography—captured every detail with depth and intention.
